Parents Create Insane DIY Bookcase To The Envy Of Every Last Pinterest User

We might live in the age of eBooks, but the popularity of good old fashioned tomes hasn't waned. In fact, for many people, they are a great way of showing off their personalities and interests at home, and they will proudly display their favorite works on a bookcase. However, as we all know, most bookcases are nothing special, even if their contents are.

But that doesn't necessarily have to be the case...

Case in point, this couple who made a truly remarkable DIY custom bookcase for their children.

Needless to say, a little prior knowledge helps when it comes to undertaking an impressive DIY project, and this is something which Jess and Sinclair Breen from Australia did not lack as the owners of a home renovation company.

They showcased their impressive bookcase on The Block, and when it was subsequently posted online, it went viral.

This project had a very simple beginning - carefully cut out boards, predrilled by a cabinet maker. As you can see, there are a lot of them.

The predrilling was essential to making Jess and Sinclair's lives easier as it meant that their next step simply involved lining up the boards and screwing them together.

In case you are wondering, the couple used enough boards to make a total of 36 boxes. That's space for a lot of books!

However, the real genius of this DIY is what came next: arranging them on a large piece of medium density fiberboard.

But because their wall didn't have the right framing to support the large structure, the couple had to use a piece of MDF to create the illusion of a "fake" wall, Diply reports.

After this, they were finally able to attach the boxes to create the bookcase.

While it may not be immediately obvious looking at this picture, the couple had traced the placement of each box so it was a relatively simple job for them to line them up and attach them.

As you can see, it didn't take long for the bookcase to start to come together.

For this geometrical design to work, placement was absolutely crucial.

Now, there was only one thing left for Jess and Sinclair to do: fill their new bookcase with books!
