Christmas Tree Hair Is The Most Extra Beauty Trend This Holiday Season

If you're aware of some of the bizarre hair trends that have cropped up over the last few years, you'll know just how extravagant they can be.

Who could forget the unicorn trend from a while back? Young women and girls from all around the world took it upon themselves to create a unicorn horn using nothing but their hair and an impressive set of skills.

But now that we have entered the holiday season, you might be wondering which Christmas-themed hair trends you can jump on. Well, one particular trend seems to be making a re-appearance this year. A couple of years ago, the Christmas tree hair trend took the nation by storm. And fortunately for those who missed it the first time around, it has returned once more.

So what exactly is this inspiring trend? Well, it entails styling your hair into a cone shape so that it resembles a Christmas tree. Then you complete the look by adding some festive decorations to make yourself look like a Whoville resident.

For a point of reference, it's a bit like bouffant hairdo from the sixties, just a lot more... flamboyant. And you can add plenty of colour and sparkle in the form of baubles, tinsel, and even fairy lights! It's your hair nest to do with what you want.

So how do you even transform your hair into a cone shape, anyway?

According to online tutorials, you place a cone or plastic bottle on top of your head as the base for the cone shape. Then colour your hair using green hairspray (or perhaps even an entirely different festive colour).

For a full tutorial, check out the video below:

Afterwards, you can start trimming away. According to the video, the look may have been inspired by Cindy Lou Who from the live action Grinch movie.

Similar to the "beard light trend" which allows men with facial hair to really get into the Christmas tree spirit, you can enhance the look with some battery-powered lights if you're feeling really extra.

And you could also try what a lot of people are doing and make some sparkly Styrofoam stars and place them at the top.

In addition, if you want to go for a more understated look then you can make a mini Christmas tree at the back of your head using braids in a triangular shape. Although, given that you're turning your hair into an actual Christmas tree, I say go big or go home.

Overall, the Christmas tree trend is a pretty difficult one to create and you should only attempt it if you're willing to turn yourself into a total spectacle. But hey! If you turn up to the office party with this look, you're definitely going to make your boss laugh.

And if you're not willing to make any major changes to your locks then why not opt for a Christmas tree shaped hat instead? That would really make an impression and it comes with no cost to your hair or your valuable time.

In short, it's entirely up to you how "out there" you would like your Christmas look to be this year. If the only festive-wear you're willing to sport is a reindeer sweater, then so be it. Although, I think it's fair to say that a little sparkle never hurt anyone.

Regardless, I think we can all agree that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year whatever you're wearing!
