Urgent Cow & Gate Recall Issued After Pieces Of Rubber Found In Baby Food

An urgent product recall has been issued by British baby food provider Cow & Gate.

Fragments of a rubber glove, which could present a potentially lethal choking hazard, were discovered in its Cheesy Broccoli Bake Stage 3, designed for babies aged 10 months and older.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has said that this has rendered the food "unsafe to eat".

However, despite this statement from the FSA, Cow & Gate has said that the product is still safe for consumption, even though a product recall has been issued, because it is not up to the company's standards.

The food was available for purchase at all major British retailers including ASDA and Tesco, but only one batch of the baby food has been affected by the stray glove.

Customers have been advised to check for the batch code: 28122020. The affected jars also have a best before date of December 28, 2020.

Any customers who have bought the affected product will be issued with a full refund.

Cow & Gate issued the following statement about the jars: "We are sorry that these jars do not meet our usual high-quality standards and for any inconvenience this recall may cause.

"These jars do not pose a health risk, but we are recalling them as they do not meet our usual high-quality standards."

If you need more information about the product recall, you can phone Cow & Gate's Careline 24/7 on 0800 977 4000 or contact the company via a live chat.
