Jim Carrey Painted An Unflattering Cartoon Of Donald Trump, And Republicans Are Mad

Jim Carrey is one of the most critically acclaimed and celebrated actors of our generation. One of his very first starring roles was in the 1985 movie, Once Bitten - but that was over three decades ago, and he had since attracted a large number of very dedicated fans who adore him for his undeniable comedic talent.

Movies such as Liar Liar saw the actor assuming the role of an imperfect buffoon who tries to get himself out of the most ludicrous situations. That's the thing about Carrey - he is incredibly talented at playing the ridiculous in an endearing way.

Some of his other hit movies include The Mask, Ace Ventura, Dumb And Dumber and The Truman Show, and collectively they have drawn attention to the actor's talent as a performer, leaving him with an incredibly large fanbase.

Yes, Carrey is an insanely talented actor, but he's certainly no one-trick pony - he has a wealth of other talents outside the world of performance.

But one of his talents has led to this controversy:

In his spare time, Carrey likes to try his hand at painting, and although it's not a full-time career for the actor-turned-artist (not yet, anyway), it is something that he takes very seriously.

And Carrey's latest art project has been making waves on the internet - it's the perfect combination of political, offensive and controversial.

The subject of the painting just so happens to be the most-talked-about man on the planet right now - and probably for years to come - US President Donald Trump.

Carrey posted a picture of the painting on his Twitter page for his 18 million followers to enjoy. Here it is in all its glory:

But that's certainly not the extent of it.

Before his unflattering painting of President Trump, Carey shared another one of his works with the public.

This painting also says a lot about his political stance. This time, Carrey's subject was White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders - at least, that's who people are assuming it is.

Carrey did not explicitly point out that the woman in the painting was Huckabee Sanders, just take a look for yourself and make up your own mind.

Based on how both President Trump and his White House Press Secretary were portrayed in the paintings, it's a fair comment to make that Carrey doesn't have the highest opinion of the pair, or of the Republican party as a whole.

In the daring piece of artwork, Huckabee Sanders looks almost irrationally angry, with her unmistakably red face and frown lines. Not to mention the fact that her mouth is wide open as though she is being captured in the middle of an aggressive rant.

Couple that with the undeniably antagonistic caption that accompanied the post: "This is the portrait of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!"

Huckabee Sanders' father is Republican senator Mike Huckabee, and he was far from happy with Carrey for his unflattering portrayal of his daughter.

So displeased was Huckabee that he tweeted the following in response to Carrey's artwork: "Pathetic BULLY, sexist, hater, bigot & "Christaphobe" @jimcarrey attacks @PressSec for her faith; what would be hypocritical Hollywood reaction if he called someone a "so-called Muslim" or "so-called Jew?" #classlessCarrey"

The Liar Liar actor's disillusion with the Donald Trump presidency had been a recurring theme throughout his work.

Over the past year, Carrey has used his works as a way to express his views on the Trump administration. Last year, Carrey also painted a picture of President Trump kissing the buttocks of Russia's president, Vladimir Putin.

The 56-year-old actor has also targeted Republican party senator candidate, Roy Moore - who has been accused of sexual misconduct - alongside other members of Trump's administration.

Recently, Trump gave his State of the Union address and shortly afterward, Carrey posted a painting of President Abraham Lincoln weeping, alongside the caption: "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to."

Carrey talked about his fondness for conveying meaning through art in the short documentary film, I Needed Color.

In the film, Carrey said, "I think what makes someone an artist is they make models of their inner life. They make something come into physical being that is inspired by their emotions or their needs or what they feel the audience needs."

Carrey's works aren't always political and they're not always antagonistic. When Professor Stephen Hawking passed away, Carrey commemorated the late genius by sharing this touching painting and Twitter caption:

Jim Carrey has a hell of a lot to deal with over the last few years - in particular, the death of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, and the court cases that resulted from the tragedy.

He has also been very vocal about suffering from depression from a young age. Because of all that, it is lovely that he is taking the time to pursue an interest as cathartic as painting. Hopefully, he will stick with it as I think we'd all love to know what else he's got up his sleeve.
