Mom's Reaction To Daughter's Relationship With Ex's New Girlfriend Goes Viral
It's an inevitable reality of life that the older you are when you start dating someone new, the higher the chances are that someone is going to have children from a previous relationship. Unfortunately, this can create a host of problems. When do you introduce them to a new partner? And how will this go down with your ex?
After all, they are your child, and when you or your ex starts dating someone new, it can be difficult to watch a complete stranger act like a parent toward them.
Thankfully, some people have got the art of co-parenting down to a tee, proving that moving on doesn't have to be needlessly difficult for your ex and your child.
Case in point, Audrey Loving and Corey Henry. The pair met when they were just teenagers, got engaged and had a daughter, but because their relationship was long distance, it didn't work out, but they remained good friends and have been successfully co-parenting their daughter, Riley, together.
While Riley lives with Audrey, she regularly sees her dad, and her mom had no qualms when she was introduced to his new girlfriend, who also happened to be called Audrey. She was simply happy that her child had someone new and loving in her life.
Taking to Facebook to share how co-parenting doesn't have to be bitter when there's a new partner involved, she wrote:
"This [picture below] is my daughter's father's girlfriend. The sweetest thing ever! I'm super thankful for her because when she visits her dad she feeds her, takes care of her, buys her gifts, and basically takes care of her like her own. Why do all these moms act so spiteful and jealous towards the other women?
"NOONE said it was easy trying to be a mother to a kid you didn't have. So when there is someone trying, don't push them away! Because they DON'T need the drama they WILL leave and then you're stuck with someone who is the evil step mom.
"Yes they exist! I see them everywhere! A kid can have two moms because in my eyes the more people that love her I'm happy! I would never make her feel like an outsider; I'm extremely thankful for this girl.
"Ladies, grow up and focus on being a good mom. Love more hate less!"
Understandably, the post garnered a lot of attention on the social media site, with people around the world praising Audrey for her positive and welcoming attitude toward her ex's new girlfriend, and the role which she was playing in her daughter's life.
But, as is the case in so many relationships, it wasn't to last, but that hasn't stopped the two Audreys from staying friends - allowing Riley to have another awesome person in her life!
In a subsequent post, Riley's mom wrote:
"This photo means EVERYTHING to me. I cried when I saw this...
"Unfortunately Riley's Biological father isn't with this awesome women [sic] I bragged about and went viral over, But she will always be apart of Riley's life. I don't care who she ends up marrying, but Riley will always be apart of you and your girl's life. I love this girl and whoever dares messes with her feelings is in big trouble because you have to go through me.
"I will always have a weak spot in my heart for Whitney, She is my family..I repeat you mess with her you mess with me. I hope you ladies learn from Whit and I that you that you can make it work. You CAN [make] those complicated relationships with the other spouse happen.
"So for those of you that asked 'so what happens if they break up' Your answer 'Nothing changes..' We did it and we will still continue even though my child's father isn't with her anymore. She is still and always a part of her life so it's worth it. Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do for my daughter (your daughter as well).
"Riley and I love you Whit forever and always ❤️ your [sic] beautiful inside and out."
Now, if that isn't co-parenting at its finest, I don't know what is.
