Woman Reveals The One Everyday Kitchen Item That Can "Cure" A Migraine In Minutes
Anyone who has ever had a migraine will know just how unbearably painful it can be. Making matters worse, sometimes even painkillers aren't enough to rid you of that throbbing pain in your head. But those who do endure frequent migraines are certainly not alone. In fact, it is estimated that over 38 million people in the US suffer from the illness.
As with all conditions, migraines range from light to severe, but more often than not, it massively interferes with the sufferer's day-to-day routine. How many things are you really capable of doing to the best of your ability or even vaguely competently when you're forced to endure what feels like a relentless pounding in your head? Not a lot - including going to work. In fact, it has been estimated that the loss of productivity as a result of migraines alone costs the economy $5.6 billion to $17.2 billion a year.
And aside from the obvious pain you get with a migraine, it can also affect your vision and your sensitivity to light, sound, and smells. Plus who wants to deal with the nausea and vomiting it often entails? It's safe to say, that having a migraine is more than just an inconvenience, it can be a huge dampener on your life. And it's for that very reason, that any effective and fast-working remedies for migraines are a real godsend.
As it turns out, effective remedies for migraines are not exclusive to medicines and pills. Apparently, there is one everyday item - which you may have lying around somewhere - that can cure the pain in a matter of minutes. One woman by the name of Elizabeth Haynes recently discovered that a simple food bag clip halved her pain in just 20 minutes.
The gluten-free business owner from Indiana shared the unlikely cure on her Facebook page:
"This chip clip saved my life tonight. I had a migraine start almost twelve hours ago and about an hour ago it was at an unbearable limit. I had exhausted all of my drugs and tricks I usually use to ease my migraines to no avail. I googled fast relief for migraines and it pulled up something called Aculief. I glanced at the counter and saw this chip clip and decided it would do about the same thing. Within one minute I had some relief, and within twenty my pain was reduced by half!! I decided to order the real thing off Amazon. Just wanted to share this with everyone, as I know many of you suffer from migraines also."
The post, a real eye-opener for sufferers from migraine, received a lot of attention and has, of this writing, accumulated an impressive 76,000 reactions and 218,000 comments.
The method is known as acupressure and involves pinching the nerves between the thumb and the forefinger. It is believed to lead to an improvement in circulation and a reduction in tension which in turn alleviates pain.
Given how widespread regular migraines are, there's no doubt that many people could benefit from this tip. But there are certain things you can do to try and prevent migraines from occurring in the first place: ensure you are hydrated, don't go too long without eating, reduce stress and get enough sleep.
